Sanders will be back for a fourth season with the Riders. The 6-foot-1, 287-pound product from Glenwood, Iowa, has appeared in 30 games over three seasons, recording 26 tackles, five sacks and a forced fumble.
Last season, he had 13 defensive tackles and two sacks. He was a key part of the team’s rushing defence that finished as the best in the CFL. The team only surrendered 76 yards per game.
He played five collegiate seasons (2018-22) at South Dakota State University. In 66 games for the Jackrabbits, he recorded 137 tackles, 42.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, two pass knockdowns, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.
Sanders was named a team captain and earned Associated Press FCS All-America First-Team honours in 2022. He helped the team win the 2022 NCAA Division 1 Football Championship.
Sanders attended rookie camp with the New York Giants following the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent 2023 training camp with the Philadelphia Eagles and played in one pre-season game.
He’s the latest player to sign an extension with Saskatchewan. In 2025, the Riders finished at the top of the CFL standings with a 12-6 record. The Riders then went to raise the Grey Cup in Winnipeg, Man., after defeating the Montreal Alouettes 25-17.
