A golden Saturday for two Saskatchewan provincial ringette teams, winning Western Canadian Ringette Championship titles on their home ice.
Team Saskatchewan’s U16 and U19 rosters both took home banners at Merlis Belsher Place in front of friends and family, capping off a storybook weekend for the teams in Saskatoon.

It was utter dominance from the Saskatchewan U19 squad, as they rolled over Team Manitoba in the U19 A gold medal final with a 7-0 shutout victory.
Brooke Labbie and Julia Riffel each had two-goal performances in the win, while Jerzy McKechnie, Leah Massel and Layla Thorson also registered goals in the gold medal win.
Defensively, the Saskatchewan U19 team also starred being out-shot 35-31 by the Manitoba side on Saturday.
Meanwhile, it was a much closer affair in the U16 A gold medal game between Saskatchewan and Team Alberta.
Despite a late comeback attempt by Alberta with three goals before the end of the game, Team Saskatchewan held on to preserve the 6-5 championship victory.
Jumping out to a 1-0 lead off a goal by Mackenzie Leitner, Saskatchewan closed out the first period with goals by Chesnee O’Donnell and Paisley Krahenbil to take a 3-2 lead into the intermission.
Laelah Skrypnyk, Brooke Bourque and Lily Chow all added goals for the Saskatchewan U19 squad to make it a 6-2 game with Chow’s goal holding up as the game-winner.
Goaltender Alex Bray made 25 stops on 30 shots against Saturday to preserve the win.
In the U14 A final, it was Team Alberta coming out on top with a gold medal against Calgary Blue.
